Lowell Middlesex Academy Charter District sees 39.5% increase in graduation rates over 2022-23 school year

Lowell Middlesex Academy Charter District had a 64.5% graduation rate during the 2022-23 school year, 39.5% higher than the previous school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 20 students who graduated in the 2022-23 school year, compared to five the year before.

Lowell Middlesex Academy Charter District had the sixth lowest graduation rate in the state.

Lowell Middlesex Academy Charter District roughly covers schools within Middlesex County and has a main office in Lowell.

In 2024, public schools in Massachusetts boasted a graduation rate of 90%, according to Public School Review.

However, younger students' proficiency is still lagging behind pre-pandemic levels. NAEP results show that in 2022, less than 47% of the students were considered proficient in math and reading, with eighth-graders performing the worst, reaching only 35% proficiency in math.
