Lori Trahan, a U.S. Congress member representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district, has voiced her concerns through recent social media activity. On April 9, 2025, Trahan expressed dissatisfaction with former President Donald Trump’s policy actions regarding Social Security, warning that "Donald Trump didn’t just break his promise to protect Social Security – he’s now actively trying to gut it" (source). She cautioned that millions of Americans might lose access to their deserved benefits.
Later on the same day, Trahan criticized a budget debate in the House of Representatives, noting that "@RepJeffries is on the House floor, ready to debate Speaker Mike Johnson on the merits of Republicans' disastrous budget bill" (source). She remarked on the absence of Speaker Johnson, attributing it to his preoccupation with cutting Medicaid and providing tax benefits to billionaire donors, including Elon Musk.
In a subsequent message, Trahan reaffirmed her stance against Republican economic policies, indicating that, "If you thought Donald Trump’s reckless decision to tank the economy was bad, this is going to make it so much worse" (source). She highlighted her opposition to legislation that she believes would benefit Elon Musk through Republican policy actions.
Lori Trahan has been serving in Congress since 2019, succeeding Niki Tsongas. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1973, she resides in Westford and is an alumna of Georgetown University, graduating in 1995.
