The ratio of students to teachers in Assabet Valley Regional Vocational/Technical School District fell by 9.8% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 1,139 students being taught by 113 teachers in Assabet Valley Regional Vocational/Technical School District, which covers schools within Middlesex County and has a main office in Marlborough. That's an average of 10.1 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Assabet Valley Regional Vocational/Technical School District had 1,149 students and 103 teachers on staff.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.

Massachusetts was ranked as the eighth best state for teachers, according to a WalletHub study.
