Student-to-teacher ratio in Woburn Public Schools District rose in 2021-22 school year

The ratio of students to teachers in Woburn Public Schools District rose by 0.8% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 4,295 students being taught by 361.1 teachers in Woburn Public Schools District, which covers schools within Middlesex County and has a main office in Woburn. That's an average of 11.9 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Woburn Public Schools District had 4,279 students and 361.5 teachers on staff.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.

Massachusetts has roughly one teacher for every 13 students, which is better than the national average of one teacher for every 16 students.
