The ratio of students to teachers in Maynard Public Schools District fell by 1.8% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 1,185 students being taught by 109.8 teachers in Maynard Public Schools District, which covers schools within Middlesex County and has a main office in Maynard. That's an average of 10.8 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Maynard Public Schools District had 1,179 students and 106.9 teachers on staff.

However, the state is facing a teacher shortage, just like the rest of the U.S. NewsNation reported that the state was offering emergency teaching licenses to educators who only had bachelor’s degrees, in an effort to get more teachers into schools.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.
