Student-to-teacher ratio in Lexington Public Schools District fell in 2021-22 school year

The ratio of students to teachers in Lexington Public Schools District fell by 0.9% in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

There were 6,790 students being taught by 614.5 teachers in Lexington Public Schools District, which covers schools within Middlesex County and has a main office in Lexington. That's an average of 11 students per teacher in the district during the 2021-22 school year.

In the previous year, Lexington Public Schools District had 6,901 students and 621.4 teachers on staff.

Massachusetts was ranked as the eighth best state for teachers, according to a WalletHub study.

Despite the shortage, under-representation of ethnicities among teachers was found to be a concern. The Rennie Center reported that only nine percent of teachers are people of color.
