The UMass Lowell women’s lacrosse team will host the Bryant Bulldogs at Cushing Field on March 28, following a recent defeat in their conference opener.

This matchup is significant as both teams look to improve their records in America East play. UMass Lowell enters with a 4-6 overall record and is seeking its first conference win, while Bryant stands at 6-4 overall and has already secured one conference victory.

In their last game, junior Emily Dodd led the River Hawks with four points during a 19-10 loss to UAlbany. Senior Grace Lydon contributed three goals, and senior Macy Shultz added three points with a goal and two assists. Freshman Lauren Lorentzen made six saves in her fourth career start as goalkeeper.

Over ten games this season, junior Bronwyn Hilbert leads UMass Lowell with 26 points. Junior Chloe Bowers has scored a team-high 23 goals for a total of 24 points. Shultz leads in assists with eleven, while Lydon has recorded sixteen goals and five assists. On defense, sophomore Madison Carter leads the team with eleven caused turnovers. In net, junior Alexa Kuhn has started six games and posted a .500 save percentage.

Earlier this season against Furman, the River Hawks set new program marks by scoring twenty goals and recording fifteen assists in one game—surpassing previous records from past seasons. Individually, Bowers finished that match with seven goals—the second-most ever for the program—while Shultz tied the single-game assist record set by assistant coach Megan Brockbank.

Kuhn was named America East Goalkeeper of the Week after an eleven-save performance against Manhattan College (the Jaspers), allowing only six goals on twenty-eight shots faced. Freshman Brienne Brezynskie earned Rookie of the Week honors for her hat trick debut that included two ground balls, two caused turnovers, and two draw controls.

Bryant comes into Saturday’s contest after defeating Vermont but losing recently to another opponent. Gabrielle Constant leads Bryant’s offense with twenty-eight goals this season; Elise Larsen adds fourteen assists and ranks second on the team for total points. Goalkeeper Sierra Donis holds a .392 save percentage across nine starts.

Saturday’s game will be the ninth meeting between these teams; Bryant holds a seven-to-two advantage historically but lost to UMass Lowell most recently during the 2024 season.
