The UMass Lowell women’s lacrosse team announced on Apr. 13 that it will host Dartmouth in a nonconference matchup on Tuesday, April 14, before traveling to face New Hampshire on Saturday, April 18.
These games come after the River Hawks secured an overtime win against UMBC. The team is looking to build momentum as they continue their season.
In their last game, senior Grace Lydon led the River Hawks with five points in an 11-10 overtime victory over UMBC. Other key contributors included Macy Shultz with three goals and Bronwyn Hilbert with two goals and an assist. Freshman Lauren Lorentzen made 11 saves in goal, while Chiara Pompei scored the decisive goal in overtime.
Shultz currently leads the team with 35 points and 16 assists through thirteen games. Hilbert follows closely behind with 33 points from twenty goals and thirteen assists. Lydon has reached a career milestone of one hundred points, becoming only the eighth player in program history to do so; Shultz also reached this mark recently.
The River Hawks have shown improvement throughout the season, including a notable offensive performance against Furman where they set a program record for assists in a single game. The team’s defense has also been strong, highlighted by Madison Carter’s fifteen caused turnovers and Lorentzen’s efforts in net.
Dartmouth enters Tuesday’s contest at six wins and six losses but is currently on a three-game losing streak. Madeline Egan leads Dartmouth offensively with twenty-eight goals and fifty-two points. New Hampshire comes into Saturday’s game having lost its last four matches; Rose Pavuk leads their offense with thirty-two total goals this season.
Historically, UMass Lowell has not defeated Dartmouth in five previous meetings but holds three wins out of ten matchups against New Hampshire—including victories in their last two encounters.
