The UMass Lowell men’s lacrosse team had three players recognized with America East All-Conference awards, according to an April 29 announcement from the conference.
The recognition highlights the achievements of juniors Johnny Soi and Justin Alexander, who were named to the America East All-Conference Second Team, and freshman Ryan Proctor, who was selected for the conference’s All-Rookie Team. The awards follow what the team described as impressive seasons for each player.
Head Coach Drew Kelleher said, “Juice (Justin) and Johnny are both really hard workers who are helping drive the team. I’m so proud of them being honored by the league, and I can’t wait to get back to work with them next fall. Ryan has done a great job in his first year here, and we’re excited to watch him grow.”
Soi ranked third on the team with 15 goals and 19 points during his junior season. He recorded a career-high five points in a win over Wagner early in the season. In addition to his offensive contributions, he collected eight ground balls and caused one turnover in eleven starts.
Alexander served as primary faceoff taker for his second season and achieved a 61.2 percent win rate over twelve games—ranking eleventh nationally—and averaged eight ground balls per game, which placed him fifth among all players nationwide. He also scored one goal and added two assists this season.
Proctor made an immediate impact as a freshman by scoring or assisting in each of his first two games. He finished with eleven goals and three assists—sixth most on the squad—and posted his first career hat trick during conference play at NJIT.
The honors reflect individual efforts that contributed significantly to UMass Lowell’s season performance.
