Lori Trahan, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district, has shared her thoughts and concerns through a series of tweets. Trahan, who has been serving since 2019 after succeeding Niki Tsongas, often speaks on issues close to her heart, including family and healthcare.
On May 11, 2025, Trahan expressed her pride in representing her lifelong home district while emphasizing the importance of her role as a mother. She stated, “I’m incredibly proud to represent the district I’ve called home my entire life, but the role I’m proudest of is being a mom.” She highlighted her commitment to ensuring that children have opportunities for better lives.
The following day, on May 12, 2025, Trahan criticized House Republicans for releasing what she referred to as Donald Trump’s “big, beautiful bill” in the middle of the night. According to Trahan’s tweet “In the middle of the night, House Republicans released the text of Donald Trump’s ‘big, beautiful bill.'” She accused them of attempting to remove healthcare from millions of Americans in favor of providing tax cuts for billionaire donors.
In another tweet posted shortly after on May 12, 2025, Trahan addressed claims by Republicans regarding Medicaid spending. She argued against their focus on “waste, fraud and abuse,” stating “Republicans are going to talk a lot in the coming days about targeting ‘waste, fraud and abuse’ in Medicaid.” She asserted that finding $715 billion in waste within Medicaid is implausible and suggested that their actions would negatively impact working families.
Trahan was born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1973 and currently resides in Westford. She graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1995.
