Lori Trahan, U.S. Congresswoman representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district, shared a series of updates on her social media accounts regarding the detention and subsequent release of a 14-year-old girl from Marlborough by federal immigration agents.
On March 11, 2026, Trahan posted: “Yesterday, a 14-year-old girl from Marlborough was detained by federal immigration agents. A child with no criminal history was taken into custody in an apparent overnight attempt to use her as a hostage to coerce her father into turning himself in for deportation. As a mother to” (March 11, 2026).
Later that day, she provided an update about the situation’s resolution: “UPDATE: A federal judge just ordered that the 14-year-old girl detained in Marlborough last night must be returned to Massachusetts and reunited with her family! This is the right outcome, and it could not have come soon enough. I want to thank her attorney, Andrew Lattarulo,” (March 11, 2026).
The following day, Trahan addressed broader national concerns related to foreign policy and its domestic impact: “Donald Trump’s war in Iran continues to drive gas prices higher and higher. Republicans in Congress had the chance to end the war and bring our servicemembers home. Almost every single one of them voted NO.” (March 12, 2026).
Lori Trahan has represented Massachusetts’s 3rd District in Congress since replacing Niki Tsongas in 2019. Before joining Congress, she served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and is originally from Lowell, now residing in Westford. She graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1995.
