Lori Trahan, U.S. Congresswoman representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district, recently addressed her recognition as a “2026 Champion of Science,” commented on the ongoing conflict in Iran involving U.S. troops, and highlighted federal support for scientific research in Massachusetts through several social media posts.
On March 12, Trahan posted about her recent accolade: “Honored to be named a 2026 Champion of Science by @scicoalition.
Every breakthrough starts with a question someone was brave enough to ask. Federal investment in basic science is how we answer those questions – and it’s our most important long-term bet on the future.
Thank you”.
The following day, she turned attention to foreign policy and military engagement: “Nearly two weeks into Donald Trump’s war in Iran, 13 American servicemembers have lost their lives and hundreds more have been wounded – some critically.
War isn’t a video game, and the White House should stop treating it like one. Their hype reels are akin to what you’d see at https://t.co/6YZjj4BzDt” (March 13).
Later that evening, Trahan reported progress regarding federal investment in scientific innovation: “Big news: After I led the push with my colleagues in the Massachusetts delegation, ARPA-H just reaffirmed its commitment to Massachusetts! https://t.co/rXGhgP3vlM” (March 14).
Trahan has served as the representative for Massachusetts’s 3rd District since 2019 after succeeding Niki Tsongas. She was previously a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and is known for her advocacy for science funding and local interests. Born in Lowell in 1973 and currently residing in Westford, Trahan graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1995.
