Lori Trahan, U.S. Congresswoman representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district since 2019, posted on her social media account about recent events and federal funding issues affecting families in her state.
On August 27, 2025, Trahan addressed a shooting incident in Minneapolis at the start of the school year. She wrote, “Gut-wrenching news out of Minneapolis as just days into the school year, kids and teachers were targeted in a shooting. My heart goes out to the families of the two children killed, and many who are injured. No parent should fear sending their child to school. It has to change.”
Later that day, she commented on proposed budget cuts by former President Trump’s administration that would impact Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) funds for Massachusetts residents. In her post dated August 27, 2025, Trahan stated: “Last year, $75M in CSBG funds helped Massachusetts families with job training, housing, nutrition programs and heating assistance. Trump’s budget wipes that out entirely.
Republicans in Congress have a choice: stand up to Trump or let hardworking families face higher bills,” linking her remarks to concerns over support for working families.
The CSBG program provides essential aid such as job training and heating assistance for low-income households across Massachusetts. According to Trahan’s statements and public records, these funds are critical for many residents facing economic challenges.
Trahan succeeded Niki Tsongas as representative of Massachusetts’ 3rd district in 2019 after previously serving in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born in Lowell in 1973 and currently residing in Westford, she is an alumna of Georgetown University.
