Lori Trahan, U.S. Congresswoman representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district, addressed concerns about energy affordability and federal assistance in a series of posts on her official social media account in early December 2025.

On December 5, Trahan announced the release of federal funds for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), stating: “Good news! After nearly three weeks of delays, LIHEAP funds for this winter have finally been released. Families who need help affording their heating bills can check if they qualify and apply here: https://t.co/Ydnfib9cPE”.

The following day, she highlighted rising energy costs and criticized former President Donald Trump’s stance on economic issues. On December 6, Trahan wrote: “American families have seen, on average, a 13% increase in their home electricity prices this year alone. Meanwhile, Donald Trump calls the affordability crisis in our country a hoax. Not surprising from a guy building a ballroom while Americans struggle to pay their bills.”

Earlier on December 5, Trahan also shared an uncaptioned post linking to her account: https://t.co/obbcWlIs4D.

Trahan has represented Massachusetts’s 3rd District in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Niki Tsongas. She previously served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and was born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1973. Trahan is a Georgetown University graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree obtained in 1995 and currently resides in Westford.
