Lori Trahan, U.S. Congresswoman representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district since 2019, posted a series of updates on social media highlighting her recent legislative efforts and reflections on public service.

On January 8, 2026, Trahan announced the allocation of federal funds for local projects, stating: “Our communities deserve safe water, reliable infrastructure, and support for people working to overcome addiction. That’s why I spent the past year working to cut through the gridlock and secure $5 MILLION for vital local projects!”

Later that day, she addressed rising health care costs in the United States and bipartisan action in Congress: “Health care costs skyrocketed for millions of Americans on January 1st. Today, 17 Republicans joined with Democrats to pass a bipartisan bill to stop that price hike by extending the Affordable Care Act tax credits. The Senate must act NOW!”

On January 9, Trahan reflected on the career of fellow lawmaker Steny Hoyer: “.@RepStenyHoyer has dedicated his life to public service, and his impact on the House of Representatives and our country cannot be overstated. I will never forget that, as Majority Leader, he made the time to visit the Third District shortly after I first took office in 2019,”

Trahan succeeded Niki Tsongas in representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district and previously served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born in Lowell in 1973 and currently residing in Westford, she graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1995.
