In a series of tweets, Lori Trahan, a representative serving Massachusetts’ 3rd district, expressed her views on recent events in Congress. Trahan, who has been in office since replacing Niki Tsongas in 2019, utilized the social media platform to communicate her perspectives on a variety of topics, showcasing her engagement and concerns regarding national legislative matters.

On April 1, 2025, Trahan commented on the recent cancellation of votes in the House of Representatives. According to her post, “House Republicans just canceled votes in Washington for the rest of the week. Why? Because Speaker Mike Johnson tried to block a vote that would allow new moms to vote remotely while taking care of their newborns. He failed. Now, he’s taking his ball and going home.” This tweet highlighted an ongoing debate over the ability of new mothers to vote remotely in Congress.

On April 2, 2025, Trahan praised another politician, Cory Booker, for his efforts in Congress. She tweeted, “So proud of @SenBooker for reminding us how effective good trouble can be. He has articulated our values and the importance of this fight over the last 25+ hours, and frankly, he looks like he could go for 25 more. I know he didn’t do this to break any records – but I’m not sad” Here, Trahan focused on the endurance and commitment exhibited by Booker in advocating for what she described as their shared values.

Later the same day, Trahan shared her experiences from a meeting held that morning. She stated, “It was great to kick off my day with @NECouncil this morning on Capitol Hill! Grateful for the chance to connect with leaders from across the region to discuss how I’m standing up for Massachusetts workers, businesses and communities!” This tweet underscored her ongoing dialogue with regional leaders and her commitment to addressing issues relevant to Massachusetts.
