In a tweet posted at 14:00 UTC, Trahan commemorated Juneteenth as “a powerful reminder that freedom in America has never been handed down, but rather hard-won through the courage and struggle of those who dared to demand it.” She highlighted the historical significance of the day when news of emancipation reached the last enslaved Americans here.
