Lori Trahan, a U.S. Congress member representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district since 2019, recently shared her views on local arts and national political issues through a series of tweets.
On May 13, 2025, Trahan highlighted the significance of the Lowell Folk Festival and Merrimack Repertory Theatre in promoting culture within Massachusetts’ third district. She stated that “Together, the Lowell Folk Festival and Merrimack Repertory Theatre represent the heart of the arts in #MA3. They showcase our local musicians, actors and artists while providing folks with meaningful opportunities to engage with culture and creativity.”
Later that day, Trahan criticized former President Donald Trump’s associates for profiting amid economic struggles faced by ordinary families. She tweeted “Trump’s inner circle is raking it in — while families are struggling to pay rent. This isn’t leadership. It’s corruption in plain sight.”
In another post on May 13, Trahan addressed Republican efforts to reduce healthcare access for Americans in favor of tax cuts for wealthy individuals like Elon Musk. She expressed opposition by stating “NOW: Republicans are trying to kick millions of Americans off their health care so they can cut taxes for their billionaire donors like Elon Musk. House Democrats are fighting back.”
Lori Trahan has been an active voice in Congress since replacing Niki Tsongas in 2019. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, she currently resides in Westford and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University.
