Lori Trahan, currently serving in the U.S. Congress and representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district since 2019, expressed concerns and gratitude through social media in recent posts. Trahan, who succeeded Niki Tsongas, has been candid on various issues impacting women and children.

On April 1, Trahan remarked on a Republican-initiated vote concerning a legislative proposal known as the “SAVE Act.” Trahan criticized the act, highlighting its severe implications, stating that it could infamously strip voting rights away from 69 million American women due to name changes following marriage. “Republicans are forcing a vote this week on the ‘SAVE Act’, a messaging bill with dangerous consequences: Stripping 69 million American women of their right to vote – just because their name changed when they got married.”

In another post shared on April 1, Trahan addressed the reduction of federal funding for child nutrition led by Republicans and former President Donald Trump. She commended Massachusetts’ leaders, specifically mentioning the state’s governor and lieutenant governor, for prioritizing child welfare by ensuring children have access to adequate nourishment.“While Donald Trump and Republicans in Washington cut federal funding for hungry kids, Massachusetts is stepping up. Grateful to @MassGovernor and @MassLtGov for their commitment to feeding our children.”
