Lori Trahan, a U.S. Congress member representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district, recently expressed her concerns and reflections through a series of tweets. Serving since 2019 after succeeding Niki Tsongas, Trahan has been vocal about legislative actions and historical commemorations.
On July 3, 2025, Trahan criticized the recent legislative actions by House Republicans, emphasizing their impact on taxation and public services. She stated, “And they’re doing all this to deliver nearly $1 trillion in tax cuts to the ultra-wealthy.” According to her post, individuals earning over $1 million annually would receive significant tax breaks exceeding $80,000, while working families face rising prices and diminishing access to essential services.
In another tweet on the same day, Trahan highlighted the consequences of what she termed “Trump’s Big, Ugly Bill,” passed by House Republicans. She detailed the bill’s potential repercussions: “Rip health care away from 17 million people Close hospitals & nursing homes Cut food for millions of families & kids Raise energy costs Kill over 1 million jobs Undermine public schools.”
On July 4, 2025, Trahan shifted her focus to commemorate Independence Day. Reflecting on the historical significance of Massachusetts in America’s fight for independence, she tweeted: “Happy Fourth of July! The fight for our independence began in Massachusetts – right here in Concord.” She emphasized the importance of preserving freedoms for future generations.
As a representative with roots in Lowell and an educational background from Georgetown University (BS, 1995), Lori Trahan continues to engage actively in political discourse concerning both state and national issues.
