Lori Trahan, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district since 2019, has been vocal on several issues through her social media presence. Her recent tweets address health care, tax policy, and reproductive rights.
On July 4, 2025, Trahan criticized former President Trump’s claims regarding a bill intended to protect health care for Americans. She stated “FALSE. 17 MILLION people will lose their health coverage, and hundreds of rural and community hospitals will be forced to close their doors.” She further noted that while Democrats proposed amendments to safeguard health care, these were rejected by the GOP.
In another tweet posted on the same day, Trahan discussed tax policies. She expressed support for tax cuts aimed at working families to foster middle-class growth and create opportunities. However, she opposed “small, temporary tax cuts for workers that are offset by slashing programs like Medicaid and SNAP.”
On July 7, 2025, Trahan addressed the issue of reproductive rights funding. She emphasized that the debate is not about abortion care but rather about power dynamics. She accused Republicans of “cutting funding for states that protect reproductive rights,” suggesting an attempt to penalize voters and lawmakers in states such as Massachusetts for safeguarding access to abortion.
Lori Trahan was born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1973 and currently resides in Westford. A Georgetown University alumna with a Bachelor of Science degree obtained in 1995, she succeeded Niki Tsongas in Congress after serving in the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
