Lori Trahan, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district since 2019, has voiced her concerns on various pressing issues through a series of tweets. Trahan, who replaced former U.S. Congress member Niki Tsongas and is an alumna of Georgetown University, took to social media to discuss government privacy policies, abortion laws, and tax legislation.
On June 6, 2025, Trahan expressed concern over the government’s increasing collection of personal data from Americans during a committee hearing. She emphasized the necessity for enhanced privacy laws by stating “During a committee hearing this week, I sounded the alarm about a deeply troubling trend: Our own government’s growing appetite for Americans’ personal data. We need stronger privacy laws. I’m fighting to make that happen.”
In another tweet dated June 7, 2025, Trahan criticized extreme Republican abortion laws following changes brought about by Donald Trump’s influence in overturning Roe v. Wade. She described these developments as “Heartbreaking doesn’t begin to cover it. It’s cruel, inhumane and unacceptable that this is happening in 2025.”
Finally, on June 9, 2025, Trahan commented on House Republicans’ support for what she referred to as Trump’s “One Big Ugly Bill.” She accused them of prioritizing tax benefits for the wealthy at the expense of working families by tweeting “By backing Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill… bending knee to Donald Trump to push through a tax scam that takes from working families to line the pockets of the ultra-rich.”
Lori Trahan continues her advocacy work while residing in Westford with her family.
