Lori Trahan, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district since 2019, has been vocal on social media regarding recent legislative developments concerning tax cuts and healthcare. Her posts express concern over fiscal policies and their impact on various demographics.
On July 2, 2025, Trahan highlighted the financial implications of proposed tax legislation, stating “It adds $4 trillion to the national debt just to pay for nearly $1 trillion in tax cuts for the wealthiest 1%.” She further noted that millionaires would receive an average tax break exceeding $80,000 annually.
The following day, July 3, Trahan criticized Republican efforts to pass a bill she described as detrimental to healthcare access. She claimed “Republicans tried to pass their big ugly bill that rips health care away from 17 million people — all so they can cut taxes for the wealthiest in our country.” Trahan emphasized her commitment to opposing this legislation.
Later that day, Trahan affirmed her opposition by voting against the bill. She stated “I voted NO because Massachusetts families deserve better.” Trahan argued that vulnerable groups such as children, seniors, and people with disabilities should not bear the cost of additional tax breaks for billionaires.
Trahan’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University in 1995. Born in Lowell and currently residing in Westford, Massachusetts, she succeeded Niki Tsongas in Congress after previously serving in the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
