Lori Trahan, U.S. Congresswoman representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district since 2019, recently used her social media platform to address issues related to health care affordability, federal spending priorities, and Halloween safety.
On October 31, 2025, Trahan posted a critique of current government spending priorities: “What hardworking Americans need:
Affordable health care
SNAP for groceries
LIHEAP to keep their homes warm
What we’re getting:
A $300 million White House ballroom”. The post highlights her concerns about the allocation of federal funds and advocates for essential programs such as affordable health care, nutrition assistance through SNAP, and home heating support via LIHEAP.
Later that evening on October 31, Trahan shifted tone to wish her constituents well during the holiday: “Happy Halloween! Wishing everyone a fun, safe night of trick-or-treating!! “.
On November 1, 2025, she addressed rising health insurance costs as open enrollment began. She wrote: “Open enrollment is here and millions of Americans are about to get sticker shock.
Trump & Republicans cut Medicaid and blocked ACA tax credits. That means higher premiums for families who can’t afford it.
Republicans should work with us to stop this unnecessary price hike.”
Trahan’s recent comments reflect ongoing debates in Congress regarding the future of public benefits and health care policy. Since succeeding Niki Tsongas in 2019 as representative for Massachusetts’ 3rd district—after previous service in the Massachusetts House of Representatives—she has focused on issues impacting working families. Born in Lowell in 1973 and currently residing in Westford, Trahan holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University.
