Lori Trahan, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district since 2019, has shared her insights on two pressing issues through her social media posts. Trahan, who succeeded Niki Tsongas and holds a degree from Georgetown University, has been vocal about the United States’ position in the global race for fusion energy and the need to update privacy legislation.

On March 25, 2025, Trahan expressed concerns about the United States losing ground to China in developing fusion energy. She emphasized its potential as “a virtually unlimited source of clean energy” that could reduce costs for families affected by fluctuating gas and oil prices. Trahan stated, “Right now, we are losing ground to China in the global race to unlock fusion energy.”

In another post on the same day, she provided a link without additional commentary: https://t.co/GCugjEl4Ch.

Later that day, Trahan highlighted her efforts to reform outdated data privacy laws. She noted that existing legislation governing personal data management had not been updated since “the dawn of the computer age.” She mentioned her discussion with John Keller on WBZ regarding reforms to the Privacy Act of 1974: “We haven’t updated the bill that mandates how the government handles our most private, personal data since the dawn of the computer age — I’m working to change that.”
