Lori Trahan, a prominent figure in the U.S. Congress representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district since 2019, shared her thoughts on recent events through a series of tweets. Trahan, who succeeded Niki Tsongas and previously served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, raised concerns about political violence and authoritarian threats.

On April 14, 2025, Trahan addressed a violent incident in Pennsylvania, expressing concern over an “absolutely terrifying news” where a deliberate and antisemitic attack targeted the governor’s residence. She expressed gratitude that Governor Shapiro and his family were unharmed and stated, “There is no excuse for political violence. Ever.”

Later that day, Trahan reminded her constituents of an upcoming community event, posting on social media: “REMINDER: My town hall is happening TODAY at 6:30PM! I hope to see you tonight in Marlborough!” The town hall aimed to facilitate direct dialogue with residents of her district.

In another tweet dated April 14, 2025, Trahan criticized statements made by Trump regarding his conversation with Bukele about increasing incarceration facilities. She described his words as “absolutely chilling,” warning of Trump’s overt expressions of authoritarian intentions: “He’s not hiding it — he’s openly talking about rounding up Americans.”

Lori Trahan was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, in 1973. She currently resides in Westford and is a Georgetown University graduate, having completed her BS in 1995.
