Lori Trahan, U.S. Congresswoman representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district since 2019, addressed several issues in a series of posts on her official Twitter account this week, ranging from local holiday traditions to national concerns about military accountability and health care policy.
On December 9, Trahan highlighted the importance of a local tradition, stating, “For families in the Merrimack Valley, the holiday season isn’t complete without the Methuen Festival of Trees. I’m always proud to participate in this annual tradition and glad to see that this year’s festival was another huge success!”
Later that day, she commented on allegations of abuse affecting women servicemembers and military spouses. In her post dated December 9, Trahan wrote, “Women servicemembers and military wives should never be left vulnerable to abuse. The allegations in this case are horrific, and the Army’s delayed response is unacceptable. @DemWomenCaucus members are demanding answers and accountability.”
On December 10, Trahan turned her attention to upcoming changes in health care premiums. She stated, “With health care premiums set to skyrocket for millions of Americans in January, the Senate will vote on Thursday to protect Americans’ health care. Republicans must support this bill so families aren’t forced to choose between their health care and feeding their families.”
Trahan has represented Massachusetts’ 3rd District since replacing Niki Tsongas in 2019. Before serving in Congress, she was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born in Lowell in 1973 and currently residing in Westford, Trahan graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1995.
