Lori Trahan, U.S. Congresswoman representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district since 2019, used her social media accounts this week to address a range of issues from health care legislation to consumer safety during the holiday season.
On December 8, Trahan commented on upcoming Senate action related to health care costs: “The Senate will vote this week on legislation to stop the GOP price hike from skyrocketing millions of Americans’ premiums. Meanwhile, House Republicans have no plan to extend the ACA tax credits that help families afford their health care.” The statement refers to ongoing legislative debates about Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits and potential increases in insurance premiums.
The following day, Trahan posted a warning for consumers as the holiday season approaches: “Holiday season is prime time for scammers. Stay alert to suspicious calls, texts, and emails so you can keep your hard earned money safe!” The message highlights increased risks of financial scams during periods of high consumer activity.
Later on December 9, she addressed policy disagreements over in vitro fertilization (IVF) coverage for military families: “Republicans and Democrats agreed to support IVF coverage for military families. Now, GOP Speaker Mike Johnson is blocking that provision. Where’s Donald Trump, the self-proclaimed “father of IVF?”
Trahan has represented Massachusetts’s 3rd District in Congress since replacing Niki Tsongas in 2019 and previously served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born in Lowell in 1973 and currently residing in Westford, she graduated from Georgetown University with a BS degree in 1995.
