Lori Trahan, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district since 2019, has been vocal on social media about issues concerning healthcare and social assistance programs. Her recent tweets address the impact of Republican policies and emphasize the importance of listening to younger generations.
On May 6, 2025, Trahan criticized Republican actions regarding healthcare. She stated, “Republicans aren’t kicking millions off their health care to fix the economy or cut waste — they’re doing it so Elon Musk can save more in taxes than most teachers earn in a lifetime.”
The following day, May 7, 2025, she urged action from fellow legislators. In her tweet, she expressed that “If just four Republicans are willing to stand up for the working families they represent and join @HouseDemocrat’s discharge petition, we can force a vote on the House floor to protect Medicaid and food assistance programs like SNAP.”
Later that day, Trahan shared an experience with students visiting Washington. She noted, “It’s always a pleasure to catch up with students from Florence Sawyer School in Bolton during their annual visit to Washington! Listening to the next generation is one of the most important parts of my job – if we want to build a better future, we have to start by listening.”
Trahan’s background includes serving in the Massachusetts House of Representatives before her tenure in Congress. Born in Lowell and residing in Westford, she graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1995.
