Lori Trahan, U.S. Congresswoman representing Massachusetts’ 3rd district since 2019, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing college affordability, public transportation accessibility, and the importance of mental health screenings in schools.
On September 19, 2025, Trahan emphasized the need for affordable higher education, stating: “Every student deserves the chance to go to college without worrying about going into backbreaking debt for the rest of their lives. @Fitchburg_State is paving the way in making college affordable for Fitchburg students!”
The following day, September 20, she addressed transportation infrastructure in greater Lowell: “Every person deserves the ability to get their kids to school, get themselves to work and get around their community safely and easily. That’s why this investment from @MassGovernor is so important for greater Lowell – making the LRTA more accessible for all residents.”
Later that same day, Trahan commented on mental health services in schools: “Let’s be absolutely clear about this. Ending mental health screenings in school will be a disaster for our children. There’s a mental health crisis in our nation that can’t just be swept under the rug.”
Trahan has represented Massachusetts’s 3rd District in Congress since replacing Niki Tsongas in 2019. Before her tenure in Congress, she served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1973 and currently residing in Westford, Trahan graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1995.
