Senior Jack Collins of the UMass Lowell ice hockey team has signed with the Iowa Heartlanders, the ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild, according to an announcement on April 7.
The move marks a new step in Collins’ hockey career after four years with the River Hawks. The signing is notable for both Collins and the program as it highlights opportunities for players moving from college-level hockey to professional leagues.
Collins, a forward standing six feet four inches tall, played in 63 games during his time at UMass Lowell. He recorded eight points, consisting of four goals and four assists. The organization said that he will now join teammate TJ Schweighardt in Iowa; Schweighardt was signed by the Heartlanders on March 17.
No additional background information about Collins or details about his future role with the Heartlanders were provided in this announcement.
